Privacy policy
In short: it collects nothing, has no server, and sends only what you type in its search box to a search engine.
What leaves your browser
- Your search text. When you pause typing in the search box (three characters or more, and not a link), the text goes to Brave Search as
site:instagram.com <your text>, or to DuckDuckGo when Brave is busy. That is how the list of accounts is found. The request carries no cookies for those sites. Brave's and DuckDuckGo's own privacy policies apply to it. - Profile pictures in that list come from Brave's image server (imgs.search.brave.com), without cookies, or from Instagram itself: the extension opens that account's public profile page in the background, from the Instagram page you are on, and reads it only until the picture's address. Like every Instagram page you open, that request carries your Instagram cookies, if you have any.
- Imginn or Pixnoy open as an ordinary page visit when you click a story, or when Instagram sends you to its login page anyway.
Nothing is sent to the developer. There is no analytics, no tracking, no advertising, and no account.
What stays in your browser
In the extension's own storage (or your userscript manager's):
- your two settings: the fallback site and the language;
- for one day, which profile picture belongs to which account in the search list, and when Instagram last asked it to wait.
Removing the extension removes them.
Permissions
storage: for the settings and pictures above.- search.brave.com, html.duckduckgo.com and imgs.search.brave.com: to fetch the account list and its pictures (a page on instagram.com may not fetch another site itself).
- instagram.com and instagr.am: where it runs.
